The Orange Coneflower, or perennial Coneflower, is native to eastern North America. 'Goldsturm' is a specific, widely cultivated variety (cultivar) developed from this native species, introduced in 1937. While technically a cultivar, it's treated as a valuable native plant in landscaping due to its strong ties to the native species and its ecological advantages.

Low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, attracts butterflies and birds, hosting caterpillars and providing seeds for wildlife. It is similar to Black Eyed Susan but with a more vibrant golden colour. Long flowering time, and adaptable to many growing conditions and soil types.
