It is an evergreen shrub up to 2m (6'8") tall, with blue-green leaves and clusters of yellow/golden flowers. It flowers over a long period from June to September. It is noted for attracting wildlife.
The plants grow in well-drained soil and full sun. This species makes a very good wind-shelter hedge or tall ground cover.
