The Canino olive is cultivated in all the countries of the Mediterranean, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, North and South America and South Africa.

It is short and squat and rarely exceeds 8-15m (25-50') in height. The olive branch has often been a symbol of abundance, glory, and peace. The Great Seal of the United States first used in 1782 depicts an eagle clutching an olive branch in one of its talons, indicating the power of peace.
