Cardamine pratensis is a herbaceous perennial plant with showy pale white, lilac or violet-pink flowers. Blooms from spring to early summer. Commonly known as Bittercress, Meadow Cress, or Cuckoo flower. It is grown as an ornamental plant in gardens, and has become naturalised in North America as a result of cultivation. In some European countries, including parts of Germany, the plant is now under threat. It grows well in gardens, or close to water.
It is a food plant for the orange tip butterfly and makes a valuable addition gardens which aims to attract wildlife.
