Cardiospermum halicacabum, known as the lesser balloon vine, balloon plant or love in a puff, is a climbing plant widely distributed across tropical and subtropical areas of North America, Africa and Australia.

Other common names are "heart seed" due to a noticeable feature of the individual seeds with a large white heart-shaped spot on the otherwise almost black seed. Also called "heart pea", or "winter cherry". 

The balloon vine is a strong-growing herbaceous perennial climbing/growing over 10 meters high, and can bloom at a height of around 25 cm.
