Brahea armata, commonly known as Mexican blue palm or blue hespler palm, is widely planted as an ornamental. It can grow as tall as 15m (50'), with a stout trunk. Its distinctly bluish leaves are 1-2 m (40-80") wide, with 1 m (40") long petioles. Brahea armata has an attractive appearance, especially when young. In the UK it has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. It's drought tolerant, can handle both partial and full sun, and temperatures down to -10 C (14 F).
