This sponge can be used as a wonderful aid for bath and shower as it invigorates the skin without harsh abrasion. Known as the -dishcloth gourd- because it can also be used to scrub dishes. Used in Chinese cuisine as a vegetable.

The plants form vines which can grow along the ground, or can be trained up a fence or trellis.
