Watercress or yellowcress is a species of aquatic flowering plant, the stems are hollow and float in water. Small, white, and green flowers are produced in clusters.

When introduced into non-native environments watercress can have negative impacts on native species. To be cautious, these plants should only be grown in closed water systems, away from natural watercourses.

Being semi-aquatic, watercress is well-suited to hydroponic cultivation, thriving best in water that is slightly alkaline.
