Sarracenia flava, the yellow pitcher plant, is one of the taller varieties of pitcher plant with some varieties growing to over 1m in height! Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea has more red colouration at the top of the plant than a standard Sarracenia flava. 

The large flowers are extremely showy, bright yellow, and nodding with an umbrella-like style. They are held on tall stems above the plants. The flowers last several weeks, attracting spring pollinators. These flowers are also quite aromatic, with a lemon-y scent.
