Sarracenia purpurea ssp. venosa var. montana form large pitchers that open upwards, often partially full of rainwater. Plants will form a dense rosette of low-growing pitchers.

The large flowers are extremely showy, rose to dark-pink, and nodding with an umbrella-like style. They are held on tall stems above the plants. The flowers last several weeks, attracting spring pollinators.
