This hardy perennial is native to parts of Europe and Western North America. Does well in moist, boggy areas with full sun. Blooms from July to September. Can either have 4 or 5 petals on the blossoms, ranging from dark blue to light purple in colour with dark-purple venation. Used to be a more common wetland plant, but habitat fragmentation has negatively impacted the populations of these plants.
